News: Edmonton Police investigating suspicious death of five-week-old infant




The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) is investigating the suspicious death of a five-week-old infant.

On Sunday, Feb. 5th, 2023, EPS Child Protection Section members commenced an investigation into a five-week-old infant who was brought into the Stollery Children’s Hospital by EMS.

The infant was in medical distress and was immediately admitted to the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit.

On Wednesday, Feb. 8th, the infant died, and Homicide Detectives took over the investigation.

The Edmonton Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy on Thursday, Feb. 9th. The cause and manner of death are pending further tests.
