Lethbridge Police are investigating after a young girl reported a male attempted to abduct her on two occasions.
On October 14, 2019 police responded to a home along Mt. Sunburst Way after a seven-year-old girl reported a man tried to grab her through the fence. Investigation determined that around 6:41 p.m. three girls – aged six, seven and eight – were playing in the backyard. The seven-year-old screamed and started yelling and all three girls ran into the house. The seven-year-old reported that a male approached the fence and tried to grab her. The other two girls did not witness the incident or see the suspect. Police, including a K9 team, searched the area with negative results. As police were conducting interviews, it was learned the seven-year-old previously disclosed a male had chased her and attempted to grab her by the arm as she was walking home from school on Oct. 9, 2019. The Oct. 9 incident was not reported to police at the time.
In both the Oct. 9 and Oct. 14 incidents the girl described the suspect as a Caucasian male, with dark hair, a thin build, a tattoo on his right wrist and a gold ring with a diamond on this right hand. He was wearing a black hoody, dark pants and black dress shoes.
Anyone with information about these incidents is asked to contact police at 403-328-4444 or Crime Stoppers 1-800-222-8477.
