Hamilton Police Appeal for Video at Binbrook Conservation Area

Hamilton Police continue to investigate the tragic death of three-year-old Zahra Ousmane at Binbrook Conservation Area yesterday.

On September 3, 2022, Zahra and her family were visiting Binbrook Conservation Area with a large group. At one point during the visit, Zahra’s family realized she was missing. They searched the area before contacting police around 6:18 p.m. Zahra was found in the water by kayakers around 7:50 p.m. and transported to hospital. She was pronounced deceased a short time later.

At this time, Hamilton Police do not believe Zahra’s death is suspicious. Detectives continue to investigate and are appealing to anyone who saw Zahra between 5:00-7:50 p.m. or took video in the area to contact Detective Lisa Chambers at 905-546-3843.

Our thoughts are with the Ousmane family at this difficult time.

Detective Sergeant Sara Beck will provide a media update at 1:00 p.m. in front of Central Station.
