An investigation has been launched into a possible child abduction attempt in 150 Mile House which became the subject of a number of social media posts over the weekend.
RCMP in Williams Lake say they are aware of the online rumours, but that they have no information to release to the public at this time.
They first received reports of the missing youth at around 9:30 Thursday night, by which point the family had not heard from the child in over 6 hours.
Shortly after the incident was reported to police, the youth was located by a community member, and officers launched an investigation to determine where the youth had been.
RCMP say the investigation is still on-going and that they will release any publicly relevant information when it becomes available.
