A two-year-old girl has died after going missing from a Canmore campground.
Canmore RCMP say they received a report of a missing child Thursday around 5 p.m.
The Canmore Detachment attended the scene alongside RCMP Traffic Services, Canmore Fire Rescue, conservation officers and Kananaskis Mountain Rescue.
Around 5:30 p.m. fire services personnel located the girl in the Bow River.
Investigators say EMS transported the child to hospital where she was pronounced dead.
They add the child will be taken to the office of the Chief Medical Examiners where an autopsy will be completed to determine cause of death.
The investigation into the circumstances of the incident continue, according to police.
They extend their thoughts to the girl’s family.
