The search for a missing 14-year-old who went missing in Lake Ontario off Hamilton has ended in tragedy.
Hamilton police confirmed Wednesday night that the teen had been found deceased.
No further details were provided as to where the boy’s body was recovered.
The teen was reported missing last weekend near Beach Boulevard, east of Hamilton Harbour after a group of young people took an inflatable out on the water.
Police say the boy went under the water and never resurfaced.
Hamilton police, Hamilton fire, Ontario Provincial Police, the Canadian Coast Guard and Hamilton beach rescue were all part of the intensive search over the last several days. The force also consulted with the Joint Rescue Co-ordination Centre at Canadian Forces Base Trenton, which provided them with drift patterns in the water.
