Niagara police say a body found in a Niagara Falls waterway earlier this month is that of a Chippawa senior who went missing in early October.
Niagara Regional Police said Monday the body has been identified as 84-year-old Louis Anderson.
Foul play is not suspected. Out of respect for the next of kin, police said, no further details are being released.
The NRP marine unit and Niagara Parks Police responded to a waterway in Niagara Falls on Dec. 2 for a report of a deceased person.
Anderson vanished without a trace from his home in the area of Main Street and Sophia Avenue on Oct. 8.
Soon after his disappearance, police and members of the community conducted searches throughout the neighbourhood.
Volunteers used ATVs and drones in an attempt to locate the missing man.
