π¨ Search for Missing Boy Darius Macdougall Enters Seventh Day in Crowsnest Pass, Alberta
The search for six-year-old Darius Macdougall, who went missing in the wilderness south of Crowsnest Pass, Alberta, has now entered its seventh day. Darius, who has autism, disappeared on the morning of Sunday, September 21, 2025.
According to RCMP, Darius and six family members left their campsite at Island Lake Campground, located roughly four kilometres south of Crowsnest Pass, for a walk. When the group returned, Darius was no longer with them. Despite nearly a week of intensive search operations, he has not yet been found.
π Search Efforts
Officials confirmed that approximately 225 personnel are now involved, including 128 trained search-and-rescue specialists from Alberta, British Columbia, and Saskatchewan. Resources being deployed include:
- Search dogs
- Helicopters
- Drones equipped with thermal and infrared cameras
- Specialized RCMP tactical units
- Alberta Conservation Officers, Sheriffs, and Fish and Wildlife officers
RCMP Cpl. Gina Slaney said there are no plans to scale back the search. βAt this point, itβs day-to-day,β she explained, emphasizing that all available resources remain dedicated to finding Darius.
π Incident During Search
During the operations, a severely injured hiker was discovered and evacuated by STARS Air Ambulance. Police stressed that while this did not affect search resources for Darius, it underscored the dangers of the terrain. Authorities continue to ask the public not to enter the search area, as untrained individuals could get injured and divert critical resources.
π’ Public Information Centre
A public information site has been set up at the curling lounge in the Crowβs Nest Sports Complex in Coleman. Residents familiar with the area are being asked to share their knowledge of hiding spots or safe spaces with officials.
π Ongoing Concern
RCMP note that Darius, while verbal, may not respond if searchers call his name due to his autism. His family remains at the scene as the search continues, holding out hope for his safe return.
