π¨ Missing Child Update β Darius Macdougall, 6, Search Ends in Southern Alberta
The RCMP and Search and Rescue Alberta have announced that the extensive search for six-year-old Darius Macdougall has come to an end. The boy, who was last seen on September 21, 2025, disappeared during a walk with six relatives while his family was camping in the Crowsnest Pass region of southern Alberta.
For 11 days, hundreds of searchers scoured mountainous terrain, riverbanks, and surrounding forest areas. Despite the massive effort involving ground crews, helicopters, and specialized teams, no sign of Darius was found. Authorities said there is nothing to suggest foul play in his disappearance.
In an update on Wednesday, RCMP stated that if Darius remained in the search area, it is now presumed that he is no longer alive. This follows earlier assessments that had already reduced the likelihood of survival to less than five per cent.
Darius, who had autism, touched the hearts of responders and community members who dedicated countless hours in the search. His family expressed their deep gratitude to everyone involved and emphasized their determination not to rest until Darius is brought home.
