🚨 Update – Lac La Biche Incident Confirmed to Be a Practical Joke

Update: Lac La Biche RCMP have said that the driver of the vehicle, as well as the potential victim, have contacted the detachment to inform them that there was no abduction.

RCMP stated in a press release that the passenger was pretending to be abducted by the driver.

“Lac La Biche RCMP would like to thank the members of the public who called the incident in as RCMP had the information quickly and were able to respond and deploy the necessary resources in a timely manner, something that would have been crucial in an abduction case,” RCMP said in a statement.

The RCMP also wanted to remind the public that practical jokes can cause panic in the public or even lower the chance of people calling the incident in, believing it is just another prank.

ORIGINAL:

On Aug. 14, Lac La Biche RCMP were called to a suspicious vehicle in front of the Island View Apartment Complex at the intersection of 103 street and 104 avenue in Lac La Biche. The vehicle, described as a dark colored and dirty cubic SUV, possibly a Kia Soul, was involved in what appeared to be a kidnapping in front of the apartment complex.

Lac La Biche RCMP are requesting public assistance in locating footage, witnesses or any information regarding this incident. Anyone with footage from the area of 103 street and 104 avenue between 8:50 p.m. and 9:10 p.m. is asked to review it and submit anything of interest.

If you have any information, contact the Lac La Biche RCMP at 780-623-4380. If you wish to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
