The body of an Edmonton man who has been missing for more than a month has been found.
The Edmonton Police Service said Hongsang (Howard) Rho was found dead by police on Monday. Officers did not disclose where the body was located.
Rho’s death is not considered criminal in nature, police said.
Rho, 64, was last seen on Aug. 11 near the Twin Brooks ravine in southwest Edmonton.
After that, his family began an exhaustive search for the man, desperate to find him. The EPS missing persons unit was also involved in the investigation.
Two weeks after his disappearance, the search ramped up with the help of K-9 search and rescue teams.
The Edmonton Police Service continues to ask for the public’s assistance in locating a 64-year-old man who went missing last week.
It was reported to police that Hongsang (Howard) Rho left his residence in the area of 110 Street and 11 Avenue at approximately 7 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 11, 2022. Investigators have also since confirmed that Rho was seen at 7:45 a.m. that morning on a walking trail near Twin Brooks Drive.
Rho is 5’6” tall, weighs approximately 143 lbs and has grey hair that reaches the base of his neck. Officers have since updated his clothing description to a faded, burgundy pull over hoodie, grey sweatpants, black slip-on shoes and wired-framed glasses with transition lenses.
Rho has early onset dementia and requires regular medication. His disappearance is also out of character and, as such, family and police are concerned for his welfare.
Rho is known to enjoy walks in the green space and on the walking trails east of his residence and may have walked into the nearby ravine. Family, friends and police have been actively searching green spaces across the city but have been unable to locate him.
Anyone who has information about Rho’s whereabouts is asked to contact the EPS at 780-423-4567 or #377 from a mobile phone. Anonymous information can also be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at www.p3tips.com/250.
