Police dog, handler find missing boy in Port Alberni, BC area

Police dog Jammer and his handler, Port Alberni RCMP Const. Gary Bartlett, came to the rescue of a lost 10-year-old boy in Maplehurst Park.
Police were called about 2:10 a.m. March 24 with a report that the boy had gone missing on the park’s trails. They were joined by the Alberni Valley Rescue Squad in the search.
“A missing child will always garner a large response from officers,” said Const. Richard Johns.
He said that Jammer was able to pick up a track quickly and the boy was found just off the main trail — a little scared but unharmed.
Police issued a reminder that it is never too early to call about a missing person.
