The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is looking for assistance from the public to determine what happened to a missing Smiths Falls area resident.
Lawrence Bertrim was last seen on Sept. 30, 2022, at about 11 p.m., in downtown Smiths Falls. Since the time of his disappearance, the Smiths Falls Police Service (SFPS) has been investigating this as a missing person case.
The OPP is now engaged and working collaboratively with SFPS, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB).
“The Smiths Falls Police Service has requested assistance from the OPP to bring additional resources to the investigation. An OPP Major Case Manager has been assigned and is leading the investigation in partnership with the Smiths Falls Police Service,” said Act. Sgt. Erin Cranton. “At this time we are unable to rule out foul play and all possibilities are being considered. We are looking for help from the public, if you know something please call the dedicated tip line or Crime Stoppers.”
Lawrence Bertrim is 42 years of age, 5’6″ (171 cms), medium build — 149 lb (67.5 kg) with brown hair and blue eyes.
Investigators and family members are concerned for Lawrence’s well-being and believe someone in the community has information regarding his whereabouts.
