The Timmins Police Service continues its investigation into the whereabouts of missing Timmins man Christopher Rivers, 44.
On Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2017, at approximately 6 p.m., the vehicle that Rivers was believed to be driving was located abandoned. The vehicle, a Hyundai Santa Fe, was located in an area off Murphy Road, Northeast of Timmins.
On Friday, Sept. 8, the Timmins Police Service’s Emergency Response Team initiated a ground search in the area of Murphy Road, with assistance from the Ontario Provincial Police’s Unmanned Aerial Vehicle, as well as the assistance of their helicopter.
The search is also being supported by volunteer members of Timmins Porcupine Search and Rescue. At this time, the ground search has yielded negative results.
The public is asked to avoid the search area to allow for the trained searchers to complete their work effectively.
Christopher Rivers was reported missing on Aug. 28, 2017. He is described as being a Caucasian male, approximately 5’10” tall, approximately 190 lbs., with wavy light brown hair blue eyes. He is described as having unshaven facial hair.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Christopher Rivers, or believing they may have seen him is asked to contact Cst. Carter of the Criminal Investigations Unit at 264-1201 ext 8204.

Rivers was reported missing on August 28, and was last seen in Timmins on August 29, 2017. He is described as being a Caucasian male, approximately 5’10” tall, approximately 190 lbs., with wavy light brown hair blue eyes. He is described as having unshaven facial hair.
Rivers is believed to be driving a blue Hyundai Santa Fe, bearing Ontario license plate BZXC584.
