The Calgary Police Service has issued an Amber Alert for 11-year-old Parker, who has been missing since Thursday afternoon, after the Government of Alberta approved a rare exemption allowing the alert to be issued despite the case not meeting the province’s standard Amber Alert criteria.
The Alberta Emergency Alert was sent to residents at approximately 1:35 p.m. on Saturday, as investigators intensified efforts to locate the vulnerable child.
Police say Parker is neurodivergent and non-verbal, making his disappearance especially concerning. Investigators warn he may become frightened if approached by strangers, and his vulnerabilities were a key factor in Alberta granting the exemption.
During a media briefing on Saturday, Acting Inspector Rod MacNeil said investigators are using every available resource in the search.
“We are deeply concerned for his well-being given the length of time he has been missing and his specific vulnerabilities,” MacNeil said.
MacNeil said the Alberta government recognized the urgency of the situation and worked with Calgary police to make the Amber Alert possible, helping spread critical information quickly to residents across the province.
Timeline of Parker’s Disappearance
Parker was last seen sometime between 11:08 a.m. and 11:41 a.m. on Thursday at his day home in the 0 to 100 block of Connaught Drive Northwest in Calgary’s Thorncliffe neighbourhood.
Later that day, around noon, clothing believed to belong to Parker was located in the 0 to 100 block of Northmount Drive Northwest.
On Saturday, police released newly obtained CCTV images showing Parker at approximately 12:52 p.m. Thursday in the 5000 to 6000 block of Travis Crescent Northeast, approximately five to six kilometres from where he was last seen.
Staff Sgt. Scott Guterson said investigators know Parker is capable of travelling long distances on foot.
“We know that he can walk great distances if that’s what he chooses to,” Guterson said.
Police hope the newly released surveillance images will help generate additional sightings and encourage residents to share Parker’s photo throughout the community.

- Shirtless
- Wearing grey shorts
- Wearing black noise-cancelling headphones
Police describe Parker as:
- 11 years old
- Approximately 4 feet 11 inches (150 cm) tall
- Approximately 90 pounds (41 kg)
- Brown hair
- Brown eyes
Investigators say Parker functions at approximately the developmental level of a three-year-old and may become frightened if approached by unfamiliar people.
If members of the public see Parker, they are asked not to startle or chase him. Instead, they should call 911 immediately if they are confident it is him so police can respond safely.
Family Asks for Help Bringing Parker Home
Calgary police also shared a statement from Parker’s family, who thanked the public for their overwhelming support during the search.
The family said even a single sighting, security camera recording, or small piece of information could make the difference in bringing Parker home safely.
“Knowing that so many people care and are looking for our son has given us strength during the most difficult time of our lives. Parker is deeply loved, and he is missed immensely. We just want our son home.”
Extensive Search Underway
The Calgary Police Service says a massive search effort has been underway since Parker disappeared.
Investigators report:
- More than 200 Calgary Police Service members have participated in the search.
- Approximately 30 tips have been received from the public and investigated.
- Officers have reviewed or are reviewing approximately 50 hours of CCTV, residential security camera and dashcam footage.
- Door-to-door inquiries continue throughout surrounding neighbourhoods.
- Approximately 120 trained search volunteers joined search operations on Saturday.
The search also includes the Calgary Police Service’s:
- Air Support Unit
- Mounted Patrol Team
- Mountain Bike Unit
- Canine Unit
- Patrol officers
- Investigators
- Trained civilian search volunteers
Residents should expect to continue seeing a significant police presence throughout northwest Calgary as search efforts continue.
How the Public Can Help
Police are asking residents to thoroughly check their properties, including:
- Garages
- Sheds
- Under decks
- Hot tubs
- Any other location where a child may have sought shelter
Residents are also encouraged to review home security camera footage and remain observant while travelling through neighbourhoods, parks, pathways, alleys and green spaces.
