One man is under arrest and a second man is wanted for first-degree murder after the remains of a 63-year-old man missing from Wetaskiwin were discovered near Alder Flats, say Mounties.
Brian Michael Dupe, last reportedly seen Oct. 14, was declared a missing person by RCMP Oct. 20 and the major crimes unit was brought in to help investigate, police said in a Tuesday news release.
Human remains found in a rural area west of Alder Flats the night of Oct. 22 were later identified by the medical examiner’s office as Dupe. Alder Flats is about 100 km west of Wetaskiwin, or an hour’s drive.
Investigators have one man under arrest in connection to the case.
They are now searching for 27-year-old Cashtin Lee Joseph, last seen in Wetaskiwin on Oct 24. He may be driving a blue 2013 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup with Alberta license plate BYK 4577.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Wetaskiwin RCMP. Wetaskiwin is about 70 km south of Edmonton.
