Kayakers find body of missing woman in Petawawa River

Foul play is not suspected in the death of a 36-year-old woman whose body was found by kayakers in the Petawawa River in Petawawa Wednesday evening.
The deceased person has been identified as Sarah Shankland, who had been missing since March 24, the Ontario Provincial Police’s Upper Ottawa Valley detachment said Thursday.
The Petawawa woman is suspected to have drowned but a post-mortem examination will be done to confirm the cause of death, police said.
Officers were called to the river near Summit Trail in the Ottawa Valley town at about 7 p.m. Wednesday after the kayakers discovered her body.
