Kamloops RCMP, BC coroner investigate after bones found Thursday Jan 19th near Peterson Creek still unknown they are human.

Police attended an area near Peterson Creek Thursday afternoon for a report involving found bones.

On Jan. 19, 2023, around 12:30 a.m., the Kamloops RCMP Detachment received the report, which led them to an area above the 700-block of the East Trans Canada Highway, east of Peterson Creek. Officers attended and contacted the coroner.

“Right now, police are working with the BC Coroners Service to confirm if the bones are human and if so, who they belonged to,” said Corporal Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson. “From there, the investigation will continue into the circumstances surrounding their discovery.”

Anyone with information regarding this investigation, or who may have come across any other bones in the area, is asked to please contact the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and reference file number 2023-2261.

An update will be provided when available. At this time, there is no further information for release.
