The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are requesting public assistance to “determine what happened to” Lawrence Bertrim of Smiths Falls.
Bertrim, a 42-year-old resident of the Smiths Falls area, was last seen on Friday, Sept. 30, 2022, at approximately 11 p.m. in downtown Smiths Falls.
“Since the time of his disappearance, the Smiths Falls Police Service (SFPS) has been investigating this as a missing person case,” police said in a press release on Monday, Feb. 13, 2023, noting that the OPP is now involved in the case and “working collaboratively” with Smiths Falls Police, “under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigations Branch.
Bertrim is described as standing 5’6” (171 cm) tall and weighing 149 lbs (67.5 kg), with a medium build, brown hair, and blue eyes.
“Investigators and family members are concerned for Lawrence’s well-being and believe someone in the community has information regarding his whereabouts,” the OPP said.
Sergeant Erin Cranton, East Region Media Coordinator for the OPP, indicated that police would like this information spread regionally, and that sharing this information in the Kingston area would be helpful.
“We are interested in any information the public may have,” said Cranton.
