15 Years Later, North Bay Police and OPP Renew Appeal in Disappearance of Luke Joly-Durocher
Fifteen years have passed since Luke Joly-Durocher vanished from North Bay, Ontario, and despite years of investigation, his family still has no answers. The North Bay Police Service (NBPS) and the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are renewing their appeal for public assistance, with investigators saying they are confident someone in the community holds information that could break the case open.
Luke, originally from TΓ©miscaming, QuΓ©bec, was 20 years old when he was reported missing to North Bay Police on Monday, March 7, 2011. He had been visiting friends on Sherbrooke Street in North Bay around the time of his disappearance and was last seen on Friday, March 4, 2011, at approximately 11:55 p.m. at the corner of Main and Wyld Streets.
π Key Evidence
A number of items and locations have been central to the investigation over the years. Luke had been staying at 683 Sherbrooke Street, and his American Eagle jacket, prescription glasses, cell phone, and hoodie were all found inside that residence after his disappearance. On March 15, 2011, a pedestrian found his bank card in a snowbank on the 500 block of Sherbrooke Street. His last recorded transaction was a $20 withdrawal made on the day he vanished. In October 2022, North Bay Police conducted a dedicated search of Chippewa Creek as part of the continuing investigation.
Private investigators from Whereabouts Unknown and the organization Please Bring Me Home have also contributed efforts to the search over the past decade.
π¬ What Investigators Are Saying
“Fifteen years is an unimaginable length of time for a family to wait for answers,” said NBPS Detective Constable Eric Krmpotic. “This investigation remains active. We strongly believe that someone knows something, and even the smallest detail could be the key to moving this case forward.”
“We remain committed to supporting this investigation and seeking answers and accountability,” said OPP Detective Staff Sergeant Seth Adair. “If you have information, we urge you to come forward. Time does not diminish our resolve to pursue the truth.”
π° Reward
A reward of up to $50,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for Luke’s disappearance.
