RCMP are investigating an abduction attempt made in Steinbach Tuesday afternoon.
Eyewitness reports to police indicate that a man in a black truck had approached three siblings playing outside along Reimer Avenue and urged them to join him inside of his vehicle. The eldest, a 10-year-old girl, allegedly yelled at her two brothers to retreat back into their house.
“The young lady did an excellent job and followed the best course of action,” notes Staff Sergeant Harold Laninga in a written statement. “This is also a good time for parents to talk to their children about what to do in these instances.”
The suspicious individual is described as a male between 30 and 50 years old with a scruffy beard and a black baseball cap. RCMP say no arrests have yet been made regarding this incident and there are no specific suspects at this point in time.
