Update: Woodstock Police confirm that the body found is Karen Cunningham – https://missingpeople.ca/update-missing-woodstock-woman-located-deceased/

Woodstock police are probing the discovery of a body inside a vehicle parked near a south-end intersection, an investigation two merchants say is related to a missing woman.

It was shortly after midnight Friday when officers responded to the area of Mill Street and Sixth Avenue in south Woodstock for a report of a suspicious vehicle, the city’s deputy police chief Nick Novacich said Friday evening.

“When they arrived, they did discover a body inside the vehicle,” he said.

Novacich said the coroner’s office was called to assist with the investigation, and the body was sent to London for a post-mortem exam.

The investigation is still in its early stages, he said. “They’re still trying to piece together what actually happened.”

Novacich did not reveal the identity of the deceased or the owner of the vehicle.

Two merchants near the scene said police were investigating a vehicle believed to belong to 30-year-old Karen Cunningham, whom police reported missing Thursday.

Police asked for the public’s help locating Cunningham, describing her as white, five-foot-six and roughly 150 pounds, with shoulder-length straight blonde hair and blue eyes. They said she was last seen wearing a light-coloured sweater and is known to drive a 2010 black Mazda 3.
