Remains found in northern Ontario identified as missing Windsor man
The Windsor Police Service confirms that the human remains located in northern Ontario in October have now been identified as those of 37-year-old David Pavao, who was previously reported missing.
The Windsor Police Service Major Crime Unit launched an investigation following Pavao’s disappearance in the early morning hours of August 14, 2025. In the weeks that followed, investigators conducted an extensive investigation throughout Windsor and Essex County.
Investigators also worked with the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) to conduct searches in other Ontario jurisdictions. In October 2025, OPP officers located human remains near Black River-Matheson Township. Following analysis by the Centre of Forensic Sciences, the remains were identified as Mr. Pavao.
We extend our sincere condolences to Mr. Pavao’s loved ones during this difficult time.
The identification of Mr. Pavao’s remains follows the arrest of five individuals in connection with the homicide.
On October 15, 2025, Shane Ladouceur, 54, and Marie Christine Hannah, 49, were arrested.
Ladouceur was charged with:
- First-degree murder
- Indecent interference with a deceased body
Hannah was charged with:
- Accessory after the fact to murder
- Indecent interference with a deceased body
On October 20, 2025, Ronald Holman, 61, was arrested and charged with:
- Accessory after the fact to murder
- Indecent interference with a deceased body
On October 23, 2025, Colin Lusk, 27, was arrested and charged with:
- First-degree murder
- Indecent interference with a deceased body
On October 31, 2025, Jason Vincent Smith, 40, was arrested and charged with:
- Accessory after the fact to murder
- Indecent interference with a deceased body
- Mischief under $5,000
- Failure to comply with a release order
