On Jan. 12, 2022, Elnaz Hajtamiri was abducted from the Wasaga Beach home of a relative where she was staying out of fear for her safety, after she was attacked outside her home in Richmond Hill the previous month.
She has been missing ever since. Police have launched a dedicated tip line at 1-833-728-3415.
Who is Elnaz Hajtamiri: Elnaz is an Iranian-Canadian woman who was 37 at the time of her abduction. She came to Canada in 2018 from Iran, a year after her husband Farnam Shapourifar died following a brief illness.
She came to Canada to rebuild her life, settling in Richmond Hill, working as an administrator in the import/export business, and volunteering with charitable organizations.
In the weeks prior to a Dec. 20, 2021 assault on Hajtamiri in the parking lot of her Richmond Hill home, the company with which she leased her vehicle found two tracking devices during an inspection. A third tracking device was later recovered by York Regional Police investigating the assault.
