🚨 Search Intensifies for Missing Bentley Professor Wiley Davi on Peaks Island, Maine
The Maine Warden Service, Portland Police, and multiple agencies are conducting an urgent search for Wiley Davi, a 57-year-old professor from Peaks Island, Maine – a small community just a 15-minute ferry from Portland.
Wiley was last known to be on the island during the evening of Saturday, November 15, 2025. As of November 20, the effort – now in its sixth day – includes ground teams scouring wooded trails and areas, Marine Patrol boats and planes patrolling Casco Bay waters, search dogs, Portland Fire Department, Brunswick Police, U.S. Coast Guard, and volunteers from Maine Search and Rescue Association. Officials are reviewing GPS data from searchers to identify any missed spots.
Peaks Island is a popular spot for outdoor activities like biking and swimming, home to artists, retirees, and summer visitors – but its trails and remote woods pose challenges for searches.
Wiley, who lives on the island, is a beloved longtime faculty member at Bentley University in Waltham, Massachusetts (10 minutes from Boston). With a doctorate in medieval and Renaissance studies from Tufts University, Wiley has taught for over 15 years in English and Media Studies, specializing in writing, diversity, gender studies, leadership, and service-learning. They’ve earned numerous awards and published in journals on these topics.
Bentley University (4,500+ undergrads) stated: “Wiley is a longtime and respected professor and a friend to students, faculty, and staff. Our hearts and minds are with Wiley, their loved ones, and the first responders – we are hoping and praying for Wiley’s safe return.”
While no evidence suggests foul play, police are deeply concerned for Wiley’s wellbeing. The public is urged to stay off walking trails to avoid interfering with teams. Island residents are checking sheds, outbuildings, and properties for any sign.
