🚨 BRAMPTON AMBER ALERT – CHILD FOUND SAFE; UNCLE CHARGED WITH SIX OFFENCES, PEEL REGIONAL POLICE

Peel Regional Police have charged a relative in connection with an alleged child abduction that led to an Amber Alert in Brampton on Thursday.

Cops say a mother and son were parked at a plaza near Main St. S. and Charolais Blvd. The mother then exited the vehicle.

The child’s uncle, who was also in the vehicle, allegedly moved to the driver’s seat and, without consent or explanation, drove away with the child still inside, police said.

Police immediately launched an investigation to locate the vehicle and the child, and an Amber Alert was subsequently issued at 6:04 p.m.

At 6:23 p.m., officers located the child abandoned in a parking lot near Resolution Dr. and Rutherford Rd. Fortunately, the child was unharmed, cops said.

Shortly after, cops observed the suspect driving in the vicinity, but when officers attempted a traffic stop, the suspect rammed a police cruiser.

Due to the dangerous manner of his driving, officers discontinued the pursuit.

At 2:19 a.m. on Friday, police located and arrested a 30-year-old suspect.

“The safe recovery of this child demonstrates the strength of our investigators and patrol officers working together in critical moments,” said Peel Regional Police Chief Nishan Duraiappah.

“In under 20 minutes, an abducted child was found safe, and the suspect responsible was later taken into custody. To anyone who seeks to cause harm in Peel, know this: we will find you, and we will hold you fully accountable.”

Police charged Shazaib Memon with abduction of a person under 14, take motor vehicle without consent, abandoning a child, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, flight from peace officer, and possession of property obtained by crime.

Anyone with information about this matter can contact the 22 Division Criminal Investigations Bureau at (905) 453-2121, extension 2233 or anonymously by calling Peel Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). Source: MSN
