Two Suspects Arrested After Missing Kenora Resident Mekhi Pelly Confirmed Dead
Ontario Provincial Police have arrested two individuals in connection with the death of Mekhi Pelly, a 21-year-old resident of Grassy Narrows First Nation who was reported missing on October 26.
Investigators have now confirmed that Pelly is deceased. Police say the search to recover his remains is continuing with assistance from Grassy Narrows First Nation and Washagamis Bay First Nation.
According to OPP officials, a 24-year-old suspect from Kenora has been charged with first-degree murder. A 43-year-old suspect, also from Kenora, has been charged with accessory after the fact to murder.
Both accused are being held in custody and are scheduled to appear in court on December 4.
Police say the investigation remains active as teams continue to work toward locating Pelly’s remains.
