🚨 Tribute to Earl Moberg – Missing Winnipeg Senior Since December 12, 2023
Dozens of loved ones gathered at a North Kildonan church on Saturday morning to celebrate the life of Earl Moberg, remembered as a kind-hearted family man, a dedicated teacher, and a lifelong learner. Earl, who was 81 and living with dementia, was last seen leaving his home in Winnipeg’s River East area on December 12, 2023. Despite extensive searches, he has not been found and is presumed deceased.
The ceremony provided a space for family and friends to share treasured memories and begin healing after nearly two years of uncertainty. Rowandale Baptist Church pastor Jonathan Kroeker spoke to the unique pain families face when a loved one remains missing. Earl’s wife, Brenda, called him her “knight in shining armour,” and his daughter, Britt, said she was grateful his kindness and gentle personality stayed with him even as dementia advanced. This year would have marked Earl and Brenda’s 50th wedding anniversary.
Born in Winnipeg in 1942 to Scandinavian parents, Earl was proud of his Swedish heritage and had been learning the language. Deeply connected to Manitoba, he spent decades teaching in Indigenous communities across the province’s north. He is cherished as a loving father and grandfather to four children and four grandchildren. “There’s so much more to him beyond the missing person in North Kildonan,” Britt said.
