A man missing since Christmas at Sturgeon Lake First Nation in Saskatchewan has been located deceased, according to RCMP.

Orlando Okemaysim, 50, was last seen walking on the First Nation Christmas Day in a “vulnerable state.”

“After initial investigation, Orlando’s death is not believed to be suspicious in nature. The Saskatchewan Coroners Service will continue the investigation into his death,” RCMP said in a news release issued Wednesday.

The communities of Sturgeon Lake First Nation and Beardy’s Okemasis Cree Nation, where Okemaysim was from, had been rallying around the family, who had spearheaded search efforts.

The release does not say where or when Okemaysim was found. There had been unconfirmed sightings in Saskatoon, according to social media posts.

Family members and volunteers had been actively searching for Okemaysim on Sturgeon Lake First Nation. The family and RCMP urged people to check their surveillance cameras.

Orlando was last seen wearing a blue wool jacket and running shoes, according to the family. The temperature in the area in the days between Christmas and New Year’s Day hovered around -30.
