The Toronto District School Board says the family of a 14-year-old boy at the centre of an Amber Alert wasn’t told the boy didn’t show up to school on Wednesday until that evening because his teachers missed a deadline.
TDSB Spokesman Ryan Bird says four teachers at Newtonbrook Secondary School have been put on “home assignment” because their attendance data wasn’t submitted before an 11 a.m. deadline.
Many schools send automatic notifications to parents when students are recorded as absent without prior notice.
