Investigators continue their work as we mark the anniversary of Michael Dunahee’s disappearance 33 years ago.
On March 24th, 1991, at approximately 12:30 p.m., four-year-old Michael Dunahee disappeared from the area of the Blanshard School playground, just a short distance away from his family. Many families and spectators were in the area at the time for a touch football game. An extensive search was launched for Michael, which involved hundreds of volunteers and police from multiple agencies.
In 2021, to mark 30 years since Michael was last seen, we launched vicpd.ca/michaeldunaheetips – a dedicated online tip portal. Hundreds of tips have been received and continue to be investigated.
The investigation into Michael Dunahee’s disappearance remains one of the largest missing person investigations in Canada.
If you have information about Michael Dunahee’s disappearance, please visit vicpd.ca/michaeldunaheetips or contact VicPD’s dedicated Michael Dunahee Tip Line at 250-995-7444. All it could take is one person to bring Michael home.
Join The Michael Dunahee ‘Keep The Hope Alive’ Walk/Run
Michael’s family has turned their tragedy into a grassroots effort to protect other families. The annual Michael Dunahee ‘Keep The Hope Alive’ Walk/Run has been a fixture in our community. Each year, families run or walk to mark Michael’s disappearance and highlight the on-going search. All money raised goes to Child Find BC. VicPD’s Deputy Chief Jason Laidman will join the Dunahee family during the run this year and several VicPD officers will be present to help keep everyone attending safe.
