π¨ Six-Year-Old Recovered After Abduction in New Liskeard, Suspect in Custody
A frightening incident in downtown New Liskeard ended with relief on Sunday afternoon when a six-year-old child reported missing was safely found and returned to family members.
According to Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), officers responded just before 2:45 p.m. after receiving a report of a missing child from a residence. The investigation determined that a man had made contact with the child at the home and then enticed the child to a nearby park.
A concerned citizen spotted the child shortly afterward and quickly ensured the childβs safe return. Fortunately, the child was unharmed.
Police arrested a suspect in the same area where the child was located. During the arrest, an officer was assaulted and required hospital treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.
Charges: The accused has been identified as Travis Prentice, 27, of no fixed address. He faces the following charges:
- Abduction of a person under 14 β take or entice
- Four counts of failing to comply with a probation order
- Assault a peace officer with a weapon
Prentice remains in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Haileybury Ontario Court of Justice on October 14.
