🚨 Update: Search Continues for Missing Boy Darius Macdougall, 6 – Crowsnest Pass, Alberta – Last Seen September 21
The search for six-year-old Darius Macdougall, missing since September 21, 2025, near the Crowsnest Pass campground, has entered its fifth day with intensive rescue efforts. Authorities and volunteers remain committed to bringing him home safely.
Adam Kennedy of Alberta Search and Rescue explained that teams are using multiple specialized strategies in the hope of locating Darius, who is on the autism spectrum. Search crews are avoiding bright lights and loud noises at night to prevent causing him distress.
One unique tactic involves softly playing one of his favourite songs, in the hope that the familiar sound will encourage him to emerge. Kennedy did not disclose the specific tune but confirmed it is meaningful to the child.
📌 Search Efforts
- More than 120 trained personnel from across Alberta and British Columbia are actively involved.
- Search operations include ground crews, helicopters, drones, and police dogs.
- Teams continue to expand outward while also revisiting previously searched areas.
- So far, no physical evidence such as clothing or footprints has been recovered.
RCMP Cpl. Gina Slaney confirmed that despite extensive efforts, no items linked to Darius have been located. Police also clarified that Darius is six years old, correcting an earlier statement that mistakenly listed him as five.
Darius was last seen after walking with other young family members at a campsite in the Rocky Mountains near Crowsnest Pass. He did not return with the group, prompting the large-scale search operation now underway.
