The search for a missing 14-year-old Hamilton boy who disappeared in Lake Ontario on Saturday afternoon continued Monday.
Hamilton police, Hamilton fire, Ontario Provincial Police, the Canadian Coast Guard and Hamilton beach rescue have all been involved in the intensive search since the boy disappeared under the lake’s choppy waters while out on an inflatable with other teens.
Emergency services were called to Hamilton Beach, near Clare and Dexter avenues, around 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
On Monday, the Hamilton police marine unit once again had two boats out on the lake searching for the boy, said Const. Indy Bharaj.
Officers have consulted with the Joint Rescue Co-ordination Centre about the water’s drift patterns over the last 24 hours and used the information to inform their search Monday. The Trenton-based centre helps with air and marine search operations.
It was “all hands on deck” for Hamilton police over the weekend, said Insp. Andrea Torrie, including Chief Frank Bergen at the scene.
