The Sûreté du Québec has concluded its most recent search for two indigenous girls who have been missing since 2008.

A recent tip led police to Kitigan Zibi, near Maniwaki, this week, where a small excavator was used to dig up areas of the Pitobig Creek shoreline.

Police are also in the process of talking to 20 witnesses.

Maisy Odjick and Shannon Alexander disappeared in September of 2008, on a night they had planned to go out dancing.

They were 16 and 17-years-old at the time.

The mother of one of the girls, Laurie Odjick, posted a thank you on Facebook for all those who have called in tips.

She is urging anyone with information to call police.
