The parents of a young child who was found walking alone near a busy downtown Kitchener intersection have been located.
According to Waterloo Regional Police, the child was found around 8 a.m. on Friday walking in the Water Street North and Victoria Street area of Kitchener.
They said the child did not seem to be in physical distress after being checked by Region of Waterloo Parmedic Services and police notified Family and Children Services of Waterloo Region. WRPS also checked nearby residences and child care centres to see if there were any missing children but that did not turn up any leads.
At around 10:30 a.m., police said they received a call from the parents of the child who had been notified that their son’s photo was circulating on social media.
It is believed that the child climbed out of a window while the parents were sleeping.
Police are on scene of the parents residence investigating.
