Peel Regional Police are investigating the discovery of human remains on the side of a highway in Brampton.
Police say they received a call from Ontario Provincial Police about a body being found in a greenspace in the area of Highway 410 and Bovaird Drive around 4:40 p.m. Thursday.
The OPP made the initial discovery while investigating an related matter in the area.
Cst. Akhil Mooken says the coroners office has been called in to try and identify the victim and the cause of death. He adds that the body has been there more than 24 hours but would not say if it is a male or female or the approximate age of the victim.
Police say as part of their investigation they will be exploring all missing person reports, not only in Peel region, but across the GTA to try and determine the identity of the victim.
