A Calgary family is worried for their daughter’s safety after she failed to return home from school Tuesday evening.

Rebecca Hewitt said her daughter Amelia Gardner, 14, last texted her Tuesday afternoon from the 8th Street Train Station.

“We’re just desperately worried and we want to know she’s ok and we just want her to come home,” said Hewitt.

“We want her to know we love her.“

Hewitt said she has been reported missing and police have been keeping her informed of the investigation.

From talking to her daughter’s friends, Hewitt said she has reason to believe that she may be with another missing Calgary youth, Haylie Koester, 14, and potentially with a third girl.

Calgary police confirmed that both Gardner and Koester have been reported missing, and they are working to locate them.

Hewitt said she’s been told the girls may be trying to make their way to Edmonton. She’s been in touch with the guardians of Koester, who declined to comment for this story.

Amelia Gardner is 5′ 7″ tall, 140 lbs. with brown hair and blue eyes. She is from the community of Arbour Lake.

Haylie Koester is 5′ 7″ tall, 110 lbs. with a slim build, long black hair and brown eyes. She is from the community of Royal Oak.

Anyone with information on the teens’ whereabouts is asked to call the Calgary Police non-emergency line at 403-266-1234.
