An additional arrest has been made in connection with the December 2021 attack on Elnaz Hajtamiri in Richmond Hill.
Hajtamiri has been missing since January 2022 after she was abducted in Wasaga Beach.
On Feb. 16 this year, investigators with York Regional Police arrested and charged a fourth man in relation to the 2021 attack.
According to police, Hajtamiri was struck with a frying pan in that incident, which took place in an underground parking garage, in the area of Yonge Street and Bantry Avenue.
She was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries and the suspects fled the scene in a vehicle.
Harshpreet Sekhon, 25, of Mono, is charged with aggravated assault and conspiracy to commit an indictable offence.
In 2022, three other suspects were identified and charged in the attack.
One of the people charged was Hajtamiri’s ex-boyfriend, Mohamad Lilo. He was arrested and charged on July 12, 2022 with attempted murder and attempted kidnapping.
YRP continues to work closely with Ontario Provincial Police on the case of Hajtamiri’s abduction.
She was abducted on Jan. 12, 2022, at about 8:30 p.m., from a Wasaga Beach residence by three people dressed in fake police gear. They fled in a white Lexus RX sport utility vehicle.
The Regional Municipality of York Police Services Board has approved a $50,000 reward, and the OPP is offering a reward in the same amount, to anyone with information leading to the location of Hajtamiri and/or the identification, arrest and conviction of those responsible for her disappearance.
