The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have confirmed that a 71-year-old woman reported missing earlier this week in the Greater Napanee area has been found alive and well.
According to a media release issued on Friday, August 8, 2025, the woman had been reported missing from her Westplain Road home on Monday, August 4, 2025. Concerns were raised for her safety and wellbeing, prompting an immediate search by members of the Lennox and Addington (L&A) County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police.
Search efforts quickly expanded to include the OPP Emergency Response Team, three OPP Canine Units, and a helicopter from OPP Aviation Services. Officers also utilized ATVs to cover challenging terrain.
Trained volunteers from the Ontario Search and Rescue Volunteer Association (OSARVA), Rideau Search and Rescue, and Ottawa Volunteer Search and Rescue joined police in the extensive ground search. The operation continued for several days.
Shortly before 4 p.m. on Thursday, August 7, 2025, members of the Emergency Response Team, Canine Unit, and OSARVA volunteers located the woman in a forested area. She was taken to be checked by L&A County Paramedics and was confirmed to be in good health.
âI want to thank everyone who played a role in the successful location of this missing person,â said Inspector Dave Tovell, Commander of L&A County OPP. âThis was an amazing example of teamwork, involving not only OPP members, but those from other agencies, as well as the dedicated volunteers who undergo special training to take part in incidents like this, and members of the public who called in potential tips.â
