Fifty-seven years, two men went out on Lake Huron for a fishing expedition, never to be seen again.
Today, provincial police are trying to track down their family members to provide DNA samples.
On Oct. 22, 1967, Huron County OPP received a missing persons report after Stratford-area residents Neil Wormsbecker, 29, and Hank Englebertus Halff, 30, vanished after departing from the Port of Goderich.
The OPP says it is seeking any remaining biological family members to come forward and provide a DNA sample to compare against all samples of found human remains in the DNA database.
Police say the Ontario Centre for Missing Persons and Unidentified Remains (ONCMPUR), along with the National Missing Persons DNA Program (NMDP), continue to work toward solving historical cases and providing closure for families of missing loved ones.
Anyone with information regarding this case, or any other incident, is asked to contact Huron OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or the Huron OPP detachment directly at 519-482-1677. Anonymous tips can also be provided through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477)
