The search of a missing man in Northumberland County has become a death investigation.
Northumberland OPP received information on Sunday regarding a vehicle linked to 22-year-old Travis Nickerson, who was reported last seen on September 8 on Sandy Bay Road in Hastings.
Officers found the vehicle — and a deceased body — in the area of County Road 18 in Alnwick-Haldimand Township.
The Northumberland OPP Crime Unit, under the direction of the Criminal Investigation Branch, with the assistance of OPP Forensic Identification Services in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service are investigating circumstances surrounding the death.
The identity of the deceased and a post-mortem examination will be conducted at the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service in Toronto.
