The search for an 11-year-old boy with autism last seen in Linsday has ended in tragedy.
Kawartha Lakes police say Draven Graham was found dead in the Scugog River around 3:30 p.m. Monday.
He initially went missing Sunday afternoon, triggering a massive search in the community.
Police from several jurisdictions and volunteer teams helped with the search, which included police dogs, boats, a drone and a helicopter.
Kawartha Lakes police say they don’t suspect foul play, but the investigation continues.
The boy’s disappearance had prompted calls for an Amber Alert, but OPP are reminding the public that Amber Alerts are only used for abducted children who are possibly in danger.
Now, an online petition is calling for the ‘Draven Alert,’ named in honour of the boy.
It would be used for any missing children with autism or special needs who could be in danger.
The petition already had more than 11,000 signatures by 8 a.m. Tuesday.
