π¨ Police Release: Mother Charged in International Child Abduction Case β Innisfil, Ontario
MOTHER CHARGED IN INTERNATIONAL CHILD ABDUCTION CASE
(INNISFIL, ON) β In March 2025, the South Simcoe Police Service launched an investigation into a reported child abduction involving an infant who had been residing in the Town of Innisfil with both parents. The father of the infant reported that the childβs mother had taken their daughter to Russia, with plans to visit family. Once the incident was reported, the investigation was taken over by the South Simcoe Police Service Criminal Investigations Bureau (CIB).
Through investigation, it was determined that the mother and infant travelled to Russia, and the mother made no attempt to return to Canada with the infant. While the police investigation was underway, the father had initiated family court proceedings in Canada and obtained a court order authorized by a family court judge that compelled the mother to return the infant to Canada and into the care of her father. The mother did not appear at any of the court hearings in Canada and did not comply with the court order issued.
As a result, South Simcoe Police charged 40-year-old Tegmina Konstanovna AGADZHANYAN with the following offences:
- Abduction in Contravention of a Custody or Parenting Order β C.C. Section 282(1)(a)
- Disobey Court Order β C.C. Section 127
A warrant for Agadzhanyanβs arrest has been issued.
The investigation remains ongoing. If you have any information that can lead to the arrest of the suspect, please contact the South Simcoe Police, CIB at 905-775-3311.
