A 53-year-old Medicine Hat woman who went missing on December 30, 2022, was found deceased on the morning of Sunday, January 22, 2023.

The Medicine Hat Police Service (MHPS) says Jennifer Chemelli-Magus was last seen on video walking eastbound on 20 Street NE towards Eighth Avenue NE on December 30, at 6:40 p.m.

The investigation into her disappearance has involved multiple physical searches of parks, green spaces, alleys, and fields in the area where she was last seen.

On Wednesday, January 18, 2023, police repeated calls for homeowners in Northeast Crescent Heights, specifically 20 Street and Eighth Avenue to check their properties, including sheds, garages, or any vehicles for any signs of Chemelli-Magus.

Police did not release details on where she was found, but they did have an area around Parkview Drive and 11th Avenue NE blocked off earlier in the day.

Police say the investigation into her death is still ongoing, however, it is considered a non-criminal matter.

No further information will be released.

The Medicine Hat Police Service offers condolences to her friends and family during this difficult time.

The MHPS is also thanking those who assisted in the search.
