Airdrie RCMP have confirmed that a young man found dead southeast of the city was the victim of a homicide.

Kalix Langenau, 19, was reported missing on Sunday, February 16. He was last seen in northeast Calgary the day before in the early morning hours.

On Tuesday, February 18, Airdrie RCMP confirmed that a body had been found in a rural area southeast of Airdrie.

An autopsy has been completed, which concluded the body was that of Langeneau and that he died by homicide. His exact cause of death has not been released.

The RCMP Major Crimes Unit is investigating and are asking the public for help.

Anyone who was in the area of CrossIron Mills, Range Raod 290, and Township Road 264 between the hours of 1 a.m. and 3 a.m. on Saturday, February 15 is asked to come forward and report anything suspicious that may have been witnessed.

Police are also looking for dash cam footage from anyone who may have been in the area at the time.

Information can be provided to Airdrie RCMP by calling 403-945-7200. Anonymous tips can be called in to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), online at www.P3Tips.com or via the P3 Tips app.

A GoFundMe page set up for Langeneau’s family has raised more than $10,000.

A Meal Train has also been set up for the family. You can help by clicking HERE.
