On September 6, 2003 Leo Brett was seen at William’s Coffee Pub during the evening hours. That was the last time Brett was observed alive.
On September 8, 2003 Leo Brett was reported to police as a missing person.
The Oxford Community Police Service, now Woodstock Police Service, launched a missing person’s investigation into the disappearance of Brett.
The Police investigation revealed that Leo Arthur Brett, who was a resident of Woodstock, was known to frequent William’s Coffee Pub, now Jesse’s Diner, located at 681 Dundas Street. He was also known to spend time at the water fountain at Woodstock Museum Square with his parrot.
At the time of his disappearance Leo was 49 years old and described as being 5’9”, 160 lbs. with short greying brown hair, moustache, wearing blue jeans, denim shirt, work boots, camouflage hat and wearing prescription glasses. Leo also had several tattoos. A “Viking” on his right chest, a female “Viking” on his left chest, a “Unicorn” on his left forearm and a “Sunset with Lightning Bolt” on his right forearm.
On June 19, 2005 the remains of Leo Brett were located by a group of fishermen in the Thames River at Highway #2 and the 11th line, just west of Woodstock, ON.
The investigation has led police to rule the disappearance and discovery of Leo Brett’s remains as a homicide.
