UPDATE: The motorhome has been located at China Beach and it is believed to have been there for one week. Mr. Cabanes remains missing and investigators are following up with the vehicle.
Saanich Police investigators are seeking the public’s assistance in locating 70-year-old Jean-Michel Cabanes, who was last seen in Saanich on October 14, 2021.
Mr. Cabanes arrived from Montreal, QC and picked up a Class C motorhome in Saanich which he had pre-arranged as a rental to return by October 26. He planned to spend some days on the island and possibly at campgrounds, however, specific locations are not known. He did not return the motorhome on October 26, and he also never boarded his scheduled flight home to Montreal on October 28.
His family is very concerned for his well-being and it is completely out of character for him not to be in regular contact with them.
He is described as a Caucasian man, 6’2” tall, 240 lbs, with gray hair, and speaks fluent English with a French accent.
The motorhome is a 2016 Mercedes-Benz Class C RV with BC licence plate PE384F.
If you see this motorhome, please call 9-1-1. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Saanich Police Department at 250-475-4321.
