UPDATE:
Police have confirmed the human remains recovered in the area of Southampton harbour 10 days ago belonged to the local man reported missing in January.
A post-mortem conducted at the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service (OFPS) identified the deceased as 32-year-old Brendan Martin.
Martin was reported missing to Saugeen Shores Police Service on January 20. He was last seen in the early hours of January 18 in Southampton.
On March 16, human remains were located by members of the SSPS. A visitation for Martin was held over the weekend for relatives and friends in Wiarton.
The joint investigation is continuing by the SSPS Criminal Investigation and Drug Unit and the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the OFPS.

The Saugeen Shores Police Service continues to look for missing person Brendan Martin. Brendan was reported to police as missing on January 20th 2025.
Brendan was observed in Southampton earlier this month but has ties to the Owen Sound and Barrie areas.
Description: Indigenous Male – 6ft tall- 195lbs – thin build – last observed wearing a black/navy winter coat and Timberland style boots.
Police are asking the residents of Southampton to check their properties and outbuildings in an attempt to locate Brendan to check his well-being.
