A Millgrove man was found alive Tuesday afternoon after spending nearly 20 hours pinned under his ATV.
Robert King, 44, was reported missing around 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday after he’d left his Safari Road home on his ATV around 6:30 p.m. on Monday evening and did not return, said Const. Krista-Lee Ernst.
Police and community members searched for King through the night but were unable to locate him. Once the sun was up, a ground search was launched and stationed at a property on Safari Road near Highway 6.
Const. Indy Bharaj told reporters King was found pinned under his off-road vehicle by a pair community members more than half a kilometre behind the Breezy Corners restaurant in the area of Carlisle Road and Highway 6.
King was located with what were believed to be serious injuries and was transported to hospital by helicopter after a flurry of first responders rushed to the area just before 2 p.m.
His condition was later upgraded to stable, according to police.
Bharaj said it’s estimated that King had been trapped under the vehicle since 7 p.m. on Monday evening — just 30 minutes after he initially left home.
